Bicycle Card Design

1.How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of playing card design?
The design that I created demonstrates my knowledge of playing card design by showing symmetry and the use of a pattern multiple times. For example, I used symmetry on the top card by using wheels. In addition, I used a bicycle pattern multiple times on my number card.
2.How would the rest of the deck look? What would you do for the other picture cards? Please describe in detail?
The rest of the number cards would look the same as the number eight card, clearly the number of bicycles is based on the number on the card. The king and the jack would be similar to that of the queen (they would also be riding bicycles). The joker would be riding a bicycle as well, but from a different perspective and in a different way. The ace card would probably include similar patterns and designs as the top of the card (most likely the bicycle in the center and a wheel).
3.How does your design demonstrate your knowledge of adobe illustrator?
My design demonstrates my design of adobe illustrator by showing the use of the reflection and rotation options in order to create symmetry. My design also includes use of the live paint bucket tool (used to fill in the color of the wheels). In addition, I used the eyedropper tool to take colors from my color palette and use them in my design. I used the pen tool to trace out and create my designs.
4.What do you feel was the most challenging part of this project and why?
The most challenging part of this project was taking my sketch and transferring it onto adobe illustrator and then choosing the proper color scheme to complement. It was difficult to combine my numerous ideas into one cohesive design.
5.If you can change one requirement what would it be and why?
If I could change one requirement, I would change the rule of including the Bicycle logo on the top of the card because I feel that it doesn’t fit naturally into the design. I believe that many other people in the class feel this way as well.
