Retail Bag Design

How do you believe your design relates to the corporate Identity of your company?
I believe that my design relates to the corporate identity of the company by its simplicity and basic color scheme. Loft, in general, has a basic bag design. To relate to the corporate identity, I made sure to incorporate the holiday season in a way that would not overwhelm the bag.
2. How does your bag portray the “holiday”?
My bag portrays the holiday season by replacing the “O” in Loft with a green striped mint. In addition, I madethe bottom section of the bag red. Although basic, the bag portrays the colors and the feel of the holiday season without overwhelming the bag. When I look at the bag, it reminds me of Christmas because I always use green striped mints to decoracte my gingerbread house.
3. Do you think that the company you designed for would really use your bag? Why or why not?
I think that the company I designed for, Loft, would really use the bag I designed because I kept true to their corporate identity while incorporating the holiday season. I feel that my design correlates well with the company’s logo.
4. What makes your bag Unique and Different?
My bag is unique and different because it shows how a holiday bag does not need to have a complex and dramatic appeal to it. A simple bag with a limited color palette can grab a persons attention better than one that has too much detail. I feel that even though my bag does not contain too much color, the color and the amount of color used makes it really stand out.
5. Describe the process in which you took to create the bag? (From beginning to end)
First, I sketched a variety of options for the bags potential design. I decided on creating a hanging ornament design. Once I secured the template, I began by image tracing the ornaments. I later decided that the ornaments were to complex and went for a simpler design. The simpler design helped me too create numerous designs based off of that one change. These designs included a plain green scribbled circle, a wreath and a hanging ornament. After much debate, I decided to create one moe design: a green striped mint. Once this design was complete, I decided that it was the best and most successful of my designs. I then created a green and white stripped interior design for the bag that matches the mints on the front of the bag. Once the designs were printed, I assembled the bag with its interior and attached the handles. The handles that I chose to use are from an actual Loft shopping bag.
