Magazine Project

1. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover and interior?

The design that I created demonstrates my knowledge by including all the components necessary in a magazine cover and interior. In addition, the inclusion of all the components was designed in a creative and unique manner.

2. In what ways does your magazine connect to the corporate identity of the magazine? What are some design queues that you used from the existing magazine?

My magazine connects to the corporate identity of PEOPLE magazine by using the same masthead and placing the necessary components in places similar to the actual magazine. In my magazine, I used a similar set up for the cover-lines and a color scheme that matches the hues that the original magazine uses.

3. How did completing the brainstorming packet and sketches affect your design process?

Completing the packet and sketches helped me to visualize how I wanted to set up the magazine and assisted in narrowing down the various ideas that I was considering.

4. How did you like working with a partner? How do you think working with a partner makes the design process easier and more difficult?

I enjoyed working with Grace on this project. I feel that working with a partner makes it easier because you can bounce ideas back and forth, give each other constructive criticism and a partner can help you make a decision that you are struggling with.

Looking at your partner’s design, if you were to design your partner’s portion by yourself how would it look different? What would you have changed?

If I were to design my partner’s portion by myself, I believe that it would look similar to Grace’s design. I feel that we had similar ideas and views about how we were going to execute the project. If I were to change one thing, I would have probably changed the interior black and white picture because I feel that it doesn’t connect with the rest.

6. Describe the ideal partner (co-worker / co –designer)?

The ideal partner is someone who you can rely on to complete the task with as much effort as possible and is someone who you can easily communicate with. When you and a partner can connect and fix each other’s mistakes, the execution of a task will be easier and of high quality.
